Oh, HOney!
Art Installation for the 2026 Burning Man Honoraria Grant.
The project is still in its infancy as its Letter of Intent is still being crafted and will soon be reviewed by the Burning Man Art team.
The image is a preliminary sketch that represent the art installation.
About the Project
Oh, Honey! is a 16-foot-tall cylindrical beehive made of stacked hexagonal wooden cells…alive with art, light, and community. Around the hive, big bee sculptures tend to their glowing home, inviting visitors to explore and connect.
Each of the 49 cells houses a unique artwork created by a different artist, turning the structure into a collaborative gallery of human creativity. By day, sunlight reveals its intricate geometry; by night, the hive glows with warm amber light, pulsing like something alive… something human.
INTERACTION
Visitors can wander, rest, and climb the hive. Inside, every cell offers a moment of reflection…a portal into an artist’s world. At night, flowing lights and ambient sounds transform the inner chamber into a gathering space for art, conversation, and spontaneous performance.
The image is a preliminary 3D model of the main structure.
PHILOSOPHY
Oh, Honey! celebrates the beauty of collaboration. Like bees building their hive, artists come together at Burning Man to create something larger than themselves. The piece reminds us that creativity and community are forces we must tend to, just like our fragile but resilient planet earth. It’s art made for humans, by humans, inspired by the quiet wisdom of mother nature.
